CCTV installation & maintenance

A system that's still recording the day you need it.

Most CCTV failures aren't dramatic. The storage filled up, a camera drifted out of focus, nobody checked for a year. We install systems properly and then keep them working — for homes, shops, offices, care homes and churches.

What CCTV is actually for

Four reasons businesses install it, in order of how often we hear them.

Something already happened

Break-in, damage, theft or a dispute with no evidence. This is the most common reason people call, and the most avoidable.

Insurance or a landlord asked for it

We'll specify a system that satisfies the requirement without over-selling you cameras you don't need.

Staff and resident safety

Common in care homes, shops and churches — entrances, car parks and communal areas covered without intruding where it shouldn't.

Peace of mind while away

Remote viewing on your phone, so you can check the premises or the house from anywhere without ringing someone.

What we do

From the survey to the servicing.

We look at the property first. Where do people actually enter? Where does the light change through the day? What do you need to be able to identify, not just see? Then we specify to that.

  • Site survey and camera specification
  • Installation, cabling and mounting
  • Camera configuration and image tuning
  • Recorder, storage and retention setup
  • Remote viewing on phone, tablet and desktop
  • Motion alerts and notification setup
  • Signage and GDPR guidance for businesses
  • Maintenance, fault-finding and repairs
  • Upgrades to existing systems

Where we differ

Your cameras are on your network. We treat them that way.

CCTV is one of the most commonly compromised things in a small business, because it's usually installed by someone who doesn't work in IT. Default passwords are left in place, the recorder gets exposed to the internet, and it sits on the same network as everything else.

Because we're an IT and cyber security company, that side gets handled as part of the installation rather than left as somebody else's problem.

  • Default credentials changed and documented
  • Cameras segmented from your business network
  • Remote access secured properly, not port-forwarded and forgotten
  • Firmware kept up to date
  • Retention set to what the law and your policy allow
CCTV questions

Worth knowing before you buy.

How many cameras do I need?

Fewer than most quotes suggest, usually. Entry points and anywhere valuable is stored matter far more than total count. We'll walk the site and tell you where cameras earn their keep.

Can I view the footage on my phone?

Yes, that's set up as standard and shown to you before we leave. It works over mobile data as well as your home or office Wi-Fi.

How long is footage kept?

It depends on the number of cameras, image quality and storage fitted — typically two weeks to a month. For businesses, retention should be set deliberately rather than left at whatever the recorder defaults to, and we'll cover that.

Do I need to tell people they're being recorded?

If you're a business, yes — signage and a clear reason for recording are part of your data protection obligations. We provide guidance on this as part of a commercial installation.

Can you fix or upgrade a system someone else installed?

Yes. Faulty cameras, recorders that stopped recording, lost passwords and systems that were never finished properly are a regular part of the work.

Do you supply the equipment as well?

Yes — cameras, recorders and storage specified for the site rather than picked from a shelf. See technology supply.

CCTV enquiry

Start with a look at the property.

Tell us the type of premises and what you're trying to protect. We'll arrange a survey and quote for a system sized to the site — not a package deal.
